About me
Living near Aotearoa New Zealand's Kahurangi National Park and the Motueka River, are constant inspirations for landscapes, rockscapes and big skies. I have a cool studio that a friend built where I create mostly oil paintings. Still lives often come from my own treasures but as with my landscapes and portraits, a dose of imagination steals in. And the flowers are from my other love, of gardening. I also teach stone carving, and still occasionally sculpt in marble, andesite, and limestone from both Oamaru and Mt Somers, and these sculptures are figurative and abstract. And there's the odd bad poem and ridiculous limericks. You can contact me anytime at stephjewell@xtra.co.nz
